Mending – Natalia Quintero

Mending

Mending is a sewing project guided by the Internment of Japanese Americans during WW2 and the erased stories of minority women. The dresses in this exhibition acknowledge the importance of individual stories and encourages the sharing of our histories. The artwork aims to create a new social narrative where transparency, vulnerability, and human connection becomes intentional in our daily lives.

Through Art I investigate ways to encourage hope and change within my community. My current sewing project is guided by the Internment of Japanese Americans and the erased stories of minority women. By sharing women’s stories merged with my personal narrative I am empowering women, changing social narratives that are exclusionary and exploring possible futures.

The exhibition can be seen from the outside of the gallery day and night. You can also visit the exhibition from the inside, please make an appointment at franciscom@casafamiliar.org
