Over the twenty-two months between December 2020 and October 2022, The FRONT Arte y Cultura presented exhibitions, produced video concerts, and developed an artist apprenticeship program, all made possible in part by a grant from the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture (NALAC).
Redibujando Paisajes: Nuevas Narrativas Nativas is a project that lifts up narratives from the region by providing a safe space for artists to show their work and explore themes and subjects across many intersecting themes, in a critical, sensitive and sometimes intimate way. These discourses often go unheard because most of the media attention goes to negative narratives of violence, immigration, and drugs.
With the support from NALAC and through this project, The FRONT was able to produce 7 exhibitions, a video concert series with a total of 10 productions, and an educational apprenticeship program for young, emerging artists from San Diego and Tijuana.
We think that it is very important to document and share the work that our communities are doing. Their impressive art, cultural work and activism is definitely changing the narrative of what the border region is, into one of creativity, resiliency, and love. These ideas should be accessible for everyone in order to inspire them now and in the future.
Our community is diverse and rich in history and tradition, but also looks forward to a more equitable future, in balance with nature and technology. Our community is the past and the future. We are citizens of the world, creative and strong.
Durante los veintidós meses entre diciembre de 2020 y octubre de 2022, FRONT Arte y Cultura presentó exhibiciones, produjo conciertos en video y desarrolló un programa de aprendizaje de artistas, todo posible en parte gracias a una subvención de la Asociación Nacional de Arte y Cultura Latina ( NALAC).
Redibujando Paisajes: Nuevas Narrativas Nativas es un proyecto que eleva las narrativas de la región al proporcionar un espacio seguro para que los artistas muestren su trabajo y exploren temas y temas a través de muchos temas que se cruzan, de una manera crítica, sensible y, a veces, íntima. Estos discursos a menudo pasan desapercibidos porque la mayor parte de la atención de los medios se dirige a narrativas negativas de violencia, inmigración y drogas.

Estas ideas deben ser accesibles para todos para inspirarlos ahora y en el futuro.
Nuestra comunidad es diversa y rica en historia y tradición, pero también espera un futuro más equitativo, en equilibrio con la naturaleza y la tecnología. Nuestra comunidad es el pasado y el futuro. Somos ciudadanos del mundo, creativos y fuertes.
