Venue Information:
El Salon is a historial building standing at the heart of San Ysidro. Initially built as a church in 1927, the structure was then turned to a black box style theatre under the architect Teddy Cruz. El Salon Theatre officially opened its doors on March 2020.
Our theatre is complimented by:
- Bleacher style seating. Equipped with 66 elevated seats.
- El Salon includes a catwalk, a private tech booth, projector with projector screen, curtains, and state of the art stage lighting + sound production.
- Our natural light system is adorned by windows on each side of its structure. Each window can also secure a total blackout; perfect for for matinee showings.
- The theatre is also equipped with green room space including 10 make-up stations that are accessible from the theatre’s back entrance.
Residencies:
Upon its opening, El Salon has hosted theatre residencies, plays, concerts, and presentations for the community of San Ysidro.
