In June 2021, Casa Familiar + The FRONT Arte y Cultura presented New Native Narratives, an exhibition showcasing the final pieces of an apprenticeship program held at The Front in which 17 young and emerging local artists were mentored by established artists Sara Solaimani, Mely Barragan, Andrea Chung, Carlos Castro Arias, and Francisco Eme. The instructors helped the artists in the conceptualizing, devoloping, and full execution of their artworks, remaining relevant to the personal and socio-political environment of our time and region. The group of artists were selected through an open call to local artists of the South San Diego and Tijuana region only.
Participating artists are Leslye Villaseñor, Carlos Luna, Natalia Ventura, Rianne Elyse Magbuhat, Vanessa Rishel, Casiel J. Sanchez, Rodrigo Jimenez, Evan Lopez, Marcela Alarcón López, Adrián Del Riego, Jafet Arzate, Marlon PV, Alexa Guzmán, David Peña, Luisa Martínez Villalón, Jon Villanueva, and MUXXXE.
