The FRONT Arte y Cultura’s 15th Anniversary was commemorated and celebrated with the art exhibition, El Devenir/ Becoming, in October 2021.
This exhibition intends to contemplate the past and the future in the same blink of an eye. We accept and place ourselves in that constant process of becoming something else, without completely ceasing to be what we already were and what we already are. The exhibition finds in the values of heritage, tradition, social justice and community a foundation upon which to explore the poetics of the past and present, those that serve to build our own future, our own becoming.
This selection of artists and their works reflect upon multiple temporalities, subjects that represent the vision of Casa Familiar and The FRONT, as an art space for the community. These are topics that in this, our 15th anniversary, we honor and respect. They represent matters that convince us even more, that our mission as cultural agents is of utmost importance to our community.
The commemoration will also include a special Dj set concert by grammy nominated electronic Tijuana band: Nortec, Bostich + Fussible, (tickets to this concert will be free but limited), as well as a panel discussion with former directors of the gallery, workshops, tours of the exhibition, and the premiere of a retrospective video about the gallery.
El 15 Aniversario de FRONT Arte y Cultura se conmemoró y celebró con la exposición de arte El Devenir/Becoming en octubre de 2021.
Esta exposición pretende contemplar el pasado y el futuro en un mismo abrir y cerrar de ojos. Nos aceptamos y nos colocamos en ese proceso constante de convertirnos en otra cosa, sin dejar de ser por completo lo que ya fuimos y lo que ya somos. La exposición encuentra en los valores del patrimonio, la tradición, la justicia social y la comunidad una base sobre la que explorar las poéticas del pasado y del presente, aquellas que sirven para construir nuestro propio futuro, nuestro propio devenir.
Esta selección de artistas y sus obras reflexionan sobre múltiples temporalidades, temas que representan la visión de Casa Familiar y El FRENTE, como un espacio de arte para la comunidad. Son temas que en este, nuestro 15 aniversario, honramos y respetamos. Representan asuntos que nos convencen aún más, que nuestra misión como agentes culturales es de suma importancia para nuestra comunidad.
La conmemoración también incluirá un concierto especial de Dj set a cargo de la banda tijuanense de electrónica nominada al grammy: Nortec, Bostich + Fussible, (las entradas para este concierto serán gratuitas pero limitadas), así como un panel de discusión con ex directores de la galería, talleres, recorridos por la exposición, y el estreno de un video retrospectivo sobre la galería.
