Marcelo Alvarez is a recently retired but still busy transborder and transcultural traveler.
This lifelong preference started even before being officially in the world as he spent time in Southern California waiting to be born.
His parents to be were unceremoniously expelled from the country and he was ultimately born in culturally intertwined Mexicali (MEXI/CALI), which borders with its sister city Calexico (CALI/EXICO).
An interconnected, bicultural upbringing was inevitable.
He studied on both sides of the border including Graphic design at UNAM, San Carlos, Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas and SDSU in the areas of Graphic Arts and Linguistics.
His personal choice of living within both cultures has been the origin of many of his lifetimes.
He has been a:
Farmworker
UFW Representative
Bad musician
Illustrator
Painter and Mixed Media Artisan
Newspaper Writer
Roving B/W Photographer
Proprietor of an English/Spanish Teaching Academy
Yoga teacher
Teacher Trainer
Parent
Actor
Political Cartoonist
Jeweler
Etcetera.
