Little Amal walks through the streets of San Ysidro as part of her journey across America.
On November 4th, 2024, we welcomed Little Amal in San Ysidro alongside UCSD’s Central of Global Justice to meet our community, culture, and well wishes in her journey looking for her mother.
The large scale 12 foot puppet walked along the street of San Ysidro, where she greeted families, pets, elders, and strangers as on her way to receive a message from all.
The walk began behind The FRONT Arte y Cultura gallery, then continued on through the cultural corridor on Blanche St. Here, she then headed down to the UCSD-CASA Community Station Living Rooms At The Border.
The project involved a group of participants, from the community of San Ysidro, dancers with professional instructors, the local youth, musicians, respected San Ysidro elders, and a variety of endeared activities.
The stop was one of Little Amal’s last before leaving the United States and heading down to Mexico.
