For new members who wish to carry out this process at home (DIY), or for those with prior experience looking to continue their projects and improve their technique.
Led by teaching artist Kelvin Lopez, this hands-on workshop covers stencil cutting and resist methods using oil-based crayons and drawing fluids. Print with water-soluble inks and produce an edition of at least 10 original works on paper or other substrates.
Kelvin Lopez received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and currently leads the San Diego Printmaking Society, promoting the practice of screen printing and access to art within the community.
In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of screen printing, including stencil cutting techniques and resists using oil-based crayons and drawing fluids to prepare their screens. Students will work with water-soluble ink and create prints on paper or other media, with the goal of producing an edition of at least 10 copies.
