We’d like invite you to the opening reception of our next exhibition:
MIRAGE: el orden de los factores y los riesgos de la ilusión
by Marcos Ramírez Erre, curated by Sara Solaimani.
Amongst Erre’s previous impactful work, this exhibition will feature two new works, including a monumental outdoor installation and other pieces never before exhibited in San Diego.
The title «Mirage» alludes to the power, risks, and layers of illusion, including the optical illusion of a stable order and its double meaning of hope of the «American Dream». Some pieces embody the order of factors, while others highlight the risks of illusion. The Tijuana-San Ysidro border, where these works are installed, is more than a transit point or dividing line; it is a home for people, animals, and plants, all subject to the political interests of institutions for survival.
His art explores the geopolitical and symbolic landscape of the Mexico-U.S. border, characterized by architectural, masculine, industrial, monumental, and anti-monumental elements. This is the second solo exhibition of Erre’s work at The FRONT. The first was 17 years ago, and is marked as the first ever exhibition at the gallery. We are beyond excited to show Erre’s work again and to present and share this exhibition with our transborder community.
