Opening Reception: Mixed Baggage Collective. Volume 12.5

Originating from the University of California – Berkeley, Mixed Baggage Collective is an interdisciplinary community of emerging artists seeking to generate social, cultural and political dialogue through art-making.

Volume 12.5 explores the multiplicity of occupation in all areas of living, and at times, of life itself. The state of occupation encompasses external space, internal values, and all parts of life that live in between those two points. The artists explore what it means to be a moved body or a moving body in space while also questioning personal fulfillment behind desires, reminiscing, and forgetting. The allusion to alcohol content and sound parallel the humor lined throughout the works. What does it mean to take up space or be taken up in volumes?
