EMBODYING THE INVISIBLE
Within the curatorial framework of Domestic Geographies a selection of video will accompany the exhibition. The works presented in this video program are centered on the subject of invisible labor. Invisible labor is work performed by a subject that is not monetarily compensated, labor that becomes unnoticed and thus unregulated. Invisible labor is often work centered in the domestic space and is an essential mechanism of social, emotional, and physical health that goes unrecognized. Duties such as the care of others, cleaning, preparing foods fall very often on womxn. Secondly, undocumented workers perform another form of invisible labor, while their work might be compensated they are invisible in the eyes of the law. Undocumented workers are unprotected by labor law, thus their work is unregulated leaving workers vulnerable to hazardous working conditions, unfair labor practices and wage theft. The intention of this selection of films is to acknowledge invisible labor, to notice it, to sit with it, to engage in it, to embody that labor and see what shape/skin/body it takes.

ENCARNANDO LO INVISIBLE
Dentro del marco del programa curatorial de Geografías Domésticas se presenta esta selección de video-arte que acompaña la exposición. Las obras dentro de este programa giran en torno al concepto de la labor invisible. La labor invisible es todo aquel trabajo hecho por un sujeto que no es recompensa- do monetariamente el cual hace que este tipo de trabajo no tenga reconocimiento ni medidas de protección. La labor o trabajo invisible a menudo se desarrolla en el espacio doméstico el cual es un mecanismo esencial para la salud social, emocional y física que se lleva a cabo sin reconocimiento. Quehaceres como el cuidado de otros, limpieza, preparación de alimentos caen muy frecuentemente sobre la mujer. En segundo lugar, lxs trabajadores indocumentadxs también desarrollan una labor invisible la cual es compensada pero ellxs son invisibles para los ojos del Estado. Lxs trabajadorxs indocumentadxs no son protegidxs por leyes laborales por lo que regularmente se encuentran en condiciones de trabajo peligrosas, tóxicas, injustas y susceptibles a robo de salarios (salarios debajo del salario mínimo, o salarios no remunerados como horas extras). La intención de esta selección de video arte es reconocer la labor invisible, darse cuenta, sentarnos con ella, invertir en ella, encarnar esa labor y ver qué cuerpo/piel/forma toma.
